(If you missed my last post, I shared that I'm gonna be renovating our kitchen on a tiny budget. Check out that post for all the details!).
As promised, it's time to kick off the Kitchen Makeover with our first finished project: an under $50 kitchen lighting update!
Here's another look at the "Before" situation: a little round white mushroom light. Super cheap. Super bland. Doesn't provide the best work light. Meh.
And here's our new piece of above-sink jewelry:
Isn't she beautiful? We got this beauty from Houzz.com for only $46!!
The nice thing about this wall mount light is the arm and cone are actually adjustable, so you can tilt the cone outward or inward to get light right where you want it. Assembly and installation were super simple also. I'm very happy with it!
If you happen to be in the market for an over-the-sink light fixture, I've linked a few of my under $100 faves from Houzz:
- I'd been stalking this light, and it went on sale so I jumped!
- A little instant gratification is great motivation to get you through longer projects ;)
- Roland is an electrician, so he can put it up (and take it down if it's in the way of other projects) in like 5 minutes. For free lol.
My goal is to finish this kitchen for $1k or less. This $46 fixture leaves me a budget of $954.
Here's what my game plan looks like now:
New light over the sinkDONE $46- Reglaze the sink
- New sink faucet
- Paint the cabinets
- Replace cabinet hardware
- Paint the counter (no, I'm not crazy! Can't wait to show y'all the plans for this!)
- Paint the tile floors (still not crazy lol)
- Trash can roll out
REMAINING BUDGET: $954
Coming up next: we've already got the new sink faucet! Brass pull-down faucets cost a small fortune, but I found a GORGEOUS one that was under $300. Stay tuned to check it out :)
