If you’re wanting to change up your home, but don’t have the budget for expensive renovations, let me tell you: paint is one of the biggest bangs for your buck out there! For around $50 you can change the entire look of a room. Paint can change how big and bright a room feels, it can make large spaces feel more cozy, and it can provide a bold pop of color if your other furnishings are more neutral. Personally, I LOVE painting! (I wonder if being an artist has anything to do with that? Lol) But for many people, painting seems like a chore. And I get it! I mean painting ceilings, for example, can be a real pain in the neck—literally.
Which is why if you’ve been putting off painting projects because of the amount of time and work that goes into it, you need to know about the Paint Stick EZ Twist. Seriously, this tool changed the game for me. Today I wanted to share with you my personal review for this painting tool. And no, I’m not being paid to write this. I just found it to be super helpful as we’ve been painting so much and thought you guys should know about it if you plan to tackle painting projects too!
Because even though I love painting, the idea of painting every square inch of ceiling in our home was daunting. I’m 5’3, and I knew it would be really uncomfortable for my neck and shoulders, craning up on a step ladder to roll over this huge space in ev-uh-ry room. When I saw the EZ Paint Stick at my local home improvement store, I decided to try it out. It wasn’t really expensive and claimed on the package that it would make painting faster and easier. Honestly, I feel like this is THE best paint tool for ceilings out there.
Using The Product:
The instructions to get started were pretty clear, and HomeRight has THIS awesome Youtube video that walks you through using it and THIS one for clean up if you’re a visual learner like me 🙂
The Pros:
Essentially, this tool stores paint in the handle that oozes through little holes in the roller so you can roll and roll and roll without stopping to constantly load more paint on your brush. You simply twist the handle when your roll marks start looking sparse and ta-da! More paint. The roller has a paint guard that prevented about 99.9% of the paint from dripping when I painted our ceilings. I actually didn’t see any drips, but I didn’t inspect the flooring with a magnifying glass after so who knows what microscopic drops may be hiding there (but no big visible drips). When you’re all done, you can also push any leftover paint in the handle back into the paint can so there’s very little wasted paint! I really loved that feature—no paint covered trays to deal with.
The Cons:
Now let’s get to the disadvantages of this roller versus a traditional one. First, the Paint Stick has a more tedious clean-up process. You’ve got to remove the roller, the metal stem that goes in the roller, and the two parts of the handle to wash each thoroughly. There are also some valve-like openings that need to be lubricated with petroleum jelly (my package came with a jelly pack). The second downside is that it requires special, hole-filled roller covers meaning you can’t just buy any old cover. Thankfully, most home improvement stores and Amazon have them. The only other issue with this roller is that it would be difficult to maneuver in smaller spaces like bathrooms or closets (but to be fair, any roller might be cumbersome in a space like that).
Overall:
I would say if your only paint project is painting a coat closet, don’t buy this product. But if you need to paint your ceilings, a few rooms, heck maybe even your exterior…this is gonna be your best friend! I finished my projects WAY faster than usual and it seemed to take less paint, which saved me money (this thing definitely paid for itself in one use).
I hope you found this review useful! If you have any questions, just shoot me a comment 🙂 Happy painting friends!
